YouTube Turbo Downloader

YouTube to MP3 in Firefox and Chrome

Turn a YouTube video into an MP3 (or M4A, AAC or WAV) file with one click, right from the player. The conversion happens inside your browser, so nothing is uploaded to a website and you do not need an account.

How it works

YouTube Turbo Downloader adds a download button to the YouTube player and a toolbar icon on every video and playlist page. Open a video, click the button, switch to the Audio tab and pick a format. Progress and speed show on the row, and the file lands in your downloads folder.

  1. Install the extension for Firefox or Chrome, Edge, Brave, Opera or Vivaldi.
  2. Open any YouTube video and press the download button on the player.
  3. Choose Audio, then MP3, M4A, AAC or WAV.
  4. For MP3, pick the bitrate: 128, 192, 256 or 320 kbps.

Which audio format should I pick?

Not sure? Read MP3 vs M4A vs AAC vs WAV explained.

Title, artist and cover art are saved in the file

The title, channel, date and cover image are written into every file, so your music app shows a proper track with artwork instead of a file called audio (3). That also keeps a playlist of downloads tidy.

Private by design

The extension has no account, no analytics and no ads. Files go from YouTube straight to your computer; they are built inside the add-on and never pass through our servers. Read the privacy policy for the full details.

Questions

Is there an MP3 limit per day?

No. There is no daily limit and no paid plan. Every feature is free.

Can I convert a whole playlist to MP3?

Yes. Open the playlist, choose the audio format once and download every item. See how to download a YouTube playlist.

Is the sound quality as good as the video?

The MP3 is made from the audio YouTube provides. Choosing 320 kbps keeps as much of it as the MP3 format allows, but no converter can add quality that the source does not have.

Does it work on Safari or on my phone?

Not at the moment. It works in Firefox and in Chrome-based browsers on Windows, macOS and Linux. Firefox for Android can install extensions, but browsers on iPhone generally cannot.
